Wallström was credited with introducing the game to his native Sweden, and in the 1940s, the indoor handball played in closed halls was invented in Denmark, after which the game became played by two teams of seven players.

The first modern rules of the game were published in 1917 in Germany by Max Heiser, Carl Schillings and Eric Koenig, and these laws saw improvements added by Carl Schillings after 1919, and these amendments were [4] The first international men's handball match was held in 1925, bringing together Germany and Austria, and in 1930 saw the establishment of the first An international women's handball match, which also brought together the German and Austrian teams, and the first handball match to be held in a closed hall was in 1935 and brought together both the Danish and Swiss teams

Handball was first presented as an Olympic sport in 1972 during the Olympic Games in Munich, Germany, and the Yugoslav country won the handball gold medal after a competition involving sixteen men's teams, and in 1976 saw the introduction of women's handball at the Olympic Games in Montreal, and the Soviet Women's Handball Federation won gold in that tournament, but in the present era handball has become a popular sport to be exercised in the All over the world with a large number of professional players, with an estimated 7 million handball players around the world

History of beach handball

Dating back to 1990, beach handball appeared on a small island in southern Italy called Ponza, which hosted its first beach handball tournament in 1992, and the same year saw the establishment of an organized committee for this type of handball, but this game was not official until 1994, when it was officially recognized by the International Handball Federation one year after the first international handball championship. In 1993, the first official European Championship was held in 2000, which was hosted by the Italian city of Jetta, and the Belarus men's team won the first European men's beach handball champions title, and after its popularity increased, the first junior beach handball championship was held in 2008.

History of handball tournaments

The first world men's handball championship dates back to 1938, which was held in Germany, which won the gold medal for that edition of the tournament at the expense of the Austrian national team, and the European teams have dominated all medals of the championship since its founding to this day, and Qatar is the only non-European country that was able to win a medal in the men's handball world championship after reaching the final of the championship in 2015 but was unable to achieve the title After playing the final against the French team that was crowned the title of the championship, and since its founding the Men's Handball World Championship was held once every four years but became held once every two years after the tournament held in 1995, and this world championship is organized by the International Handball Federation, which also organizes the Women's Handball World Championship, which was held for the first time in 1957, in addition to the junior championships of men and women

International Handball Federation founded

The first governing body for handball dates back to 1928, when the so-called International Amateur Handball Federation, referred to as the International Amateur Handball Federation, was established in Copenhagen, Denmark, on the occasion of the Olympic Games held in Amsterdam. International Handball Federation, referred to as IHF, and American Afri Brundge, who later became president of the Olympic Committee as the first president of the Federation,[3] is the governing and supervisory body of handball around the world, which comprises 159 different national federations.

This world federation has many responsibilities and duties such as establishing the rules of the game, changing it, organizing international competitions in accordance with the Federation's statutes, establishing Olympic and international handball championships, in addition to setting an calendar of international events related to the sport, and the International Federation has the responsibility to select and train international referees, in addition to holding training courses for both referees and coaches with the aim of raising their efficiency, and FIFA is working to support the relevant committees in the various continental federations, In addition to making plans and proposals that will improve the handball game in the future
